What are some interesting factors affecting plant growth? I have a project involving testing ONE factor that affects plant growth. I want it to be interesting as well as have something that would actually be important to test. NOT...temperature, sunlight or water...as they are obvious NOT...anything that doesnt have much use if tested...like music's affect on plants, or different soda's affect on plants.

Eplain what might happen to various organisms in an ecosystem following such an event.
How many times can a hormone or growth factor activate its receptor? Can anyone point me in the direction of some online literature that explains or helps me understand how man times hormones/growth factors can attach to their respective receptors. I know understand the half and active lives of hormones/peptides, but I was curious if after activating its receptor, whether the hormone/growth factors are rendered inactive or if they can continue activation.
Some receptors for growth factors activate a protein kinase cascade...? Some receptors for growth factors activate a protein kinase cascade, with the participation of multiple enzymes to effect a change in gene expression. Which of the following statements about a protein kinase cascade are true? multiple steps allow the amplification of the signal external signals can lead to changes in gene expression multiple steps leading to kinase activations can result in cells have different responses, depending on the presence or absence of target proteins multiple steps in an activation mean that abnormal stimulation of a cell response such as growth can occur with mutations in more than one gene all of the above are true
Broken tibia and fibula - growth factors? I broke my tibia and fibula by falling at home 3 months ago... sad thing... The surgeon put an external frame to block the two parts of the bone. After 3 months the X-ray is similar to the one I had the day after the surgery... The doctors are a little bit worried about that. Has anyone experienced such a situation? Or I am a unique case? I fear not to be able to walk anymore... P.S. 1) The surgeon would like to experiment on me a cure with stem cells as growth factor... Has anyone tried it in the U.S.? P.S. 2.) I'm Italian, so sorry for my bad English!
Need help helping my son with his math, Examining Growth Factors? My son is in 8th grade and the book they are using is useless, there are no chapters explaining the process to use to find the answer. Evidentally the teacher has went to the discovery method of learning because she isn't explaining either. He is currently working on growth patterns. We are needing help in working out the problems and finding the answers, following is an example: Fruit flies are often used in genetic experiments because they reproduce very quickly. In 12 days a pair of fruit flies can mature and produce a new generation. The table shows the number of fruit flies in 3 generations of a lab colony. Table: Generations/# of flies 0/2, 1/120, 2/7200, 3/432,000 a. What is the growth factor for this fly population? Explain how you got this answer. b. How many will there be in the 5th generation? c. Write an equation for the population p of generation g d. After how many generations will the population exceed 1 billion? Thank you to anyone who can help
Factors affecting KOI growth? I would like to know what are the factors that affect KOI growth. I have a 75 gallon aquarium and a 75 gallon concrete pond. I have equal number of kois in both, I noticed that the kois in the concrete pond grow faster. The concrete pond is located on the 4th floor rooftop open sunlight. The aquarium is located at the basement. I dont have data on the water temp but i change 10% of the water every week on both. I live in a tropical country with 28-32 degress celcius being the norm room temp. My kois are 2 years old and they are on average 10 inches long(tail not included). Are they staunted? or is that normal? I'm attaching a link to a picture of my aquarium. http://chrisvillarin.com/aquarium01.jpg Would like to hear your suggestions on how to maximize and improve the growth of my kois. Thanks!
Geographic factors that encouraged the growth of slavery between 1607 & 1775? Okay. This is for AP US History... So this is supposed to be a college level essay. I have all the info I need, except for one or two more points about the GEOGRAPHIC factors. Here is the whole Question: How did economic, geographic, and social factors encourage the growth of slavery as an important part of the economy of the southern colonies between 1607 and 1775? I have more than enough stuff for economic, and a passable amount for social, but I NEED more geographic points. So far all I have is that not all of the staple food crops were compatable with the southern soil and slaves knew how to grow rice. They didn't contract diseases from the insects in the rice fields, either. Is what I have so far correct for the geographic part? I need just one or two more points for this! Then I can write my amazing essay for a good grade. = ) Okay... and one more social factor would be nice. = ) I have that the more slaves a person had, the more wealthy they were viewed as. The elite of the south enjoyed being at the top of the social ladder. The land- and slave-owners of the south were the "winners" of society, and the poor farmers and slaves were the "losers." Because while the poor farmers were free, they had to work just as hard. Any more suggestions? I'm just stuck in a rut here. = / I love history, but sometimes I get so angry with my book. It doesn't always give me answers. = ( And before anyone suggests it, I've googled it. Thats where I got most of my social aspects. I got all my economic [and some social] points from the book [gasp!]. Its just no one seems to want to concentrate on the geographic!!!
