- colostrum isn't a substance that leaks. It's really thick (yellow). At 21 weeks it's absolutely possible to have some watery/milky leaking (especially when the breasts are compressed or when you bend over) I'd just get a thin breast pad.. like medela (they don't show through your clothes like the bigger ones do).
- Yes its normal to leak that early, try wearing a sports bra to keep them contstricted and don't sqeeze them colostrum stains clothing
- I never leaked it through out my whole pregnancy but from what i hear and what i've read out of pregnancy books its normal to leak it during your pregnancy at anytime. It normally won't stop leaking until after birth when your milk has come in. Your body is preparing for feeding a baby.
- It is normal. I don't know why it happens this early, it just does! And there are a lot more "annoying" things that are going to happen to your body before this baby comes out--and then even more. So get used to it.
- i don't know for sure but i thought maybe normal a few days before labor not that you are even close to that but most women get there milk in 2 3 days after delivery ask your ob for the facts
- Leaking can begin at any point in pregnancy. (For me, always right at the start of the 3rd trimester.) Some women leak early, others later in pg and still other moms NEVER leak. Any of these moms can breastfeed successfully.....anything is normal when it comes to leaking during pregnancy! Get some breast pads and wear them in your bra to catch leaks.
- it's soooooooooooo normal. and if you think leaking colostrum is annoying- boy have you got a fun surprise when your milk comes in! And some moms are lucky and after a few weeks of their milk comming in0 they stop leaking-- but others- most women-- they dont stop leaking- so whoever posted earlier that they all stop 2-3 days after your milk comes in- well you are wrong. You can breastfeed for 2 years and still have to wear pads and have leaky breasts.
- Your Gyn doctor can sit you down and explain things better, that happened to me towards the end of my pregnancy!!!!
- It's annoying. Just buy some nursing pads. It's normal. In fact, that's really good, cause it means there will be plenty for your baby, and get used to it, cause in a few months you won't be leaking colostrum, you'll be leaking milk, that smells and by the way it's sticky
- It usually occurs sooner with your first child, but it's normal.
- This happened to me as well, I was foolish and express the colostrum and went into early labor, but I wasnt 21 weeks like you, I was around 35. I would recommend taking less hot showers, the hot water helps ease the muscles around the breast, increasing the chances of leaking. And two, buy some nursing pads for your bra, it will help you from staining your shirts and bras, I wish you the best and I hope I helped a little:-)
- Maybe u have worked too hard, slow down, start eating Total Cereal, fruits and good foods that will supply u and the baby with nutrition. Take breaks and elevate your feet and take deep breathes... breathe in nose deep thru stomach and slowly breathe out mouth. U should be okay.
- I never had it that early with my first pregnancy. I didn't start leaking until I was late in my 7th month. This pregnancy on the other hand, I started late in my 5th month.
- Yes it's perfectly normal, you can buy washable nursing pads they're great if your not leaking heavily and they aren't noticable. However after pregnancy you'll probably want disposables since they may need to be changed a few times a day.
- That is about when I started oozing. Got out of the tub one day and dried off, then looked down and was APPALLED to realize my boob was leaking. As this is my first pregnancy, I promptly burst into tears and called my mom. She laughed and told me it was normal. I am 27 weeks now and it still grosses me out when they ooze. On the lighter side, my husband has finaly stopped messing with them, guess it grosses him out too! Go to Walmart and buy some cheap little nursing pads. BTW, I asked the OB about it at my last visit... he said it was colostrum as well.
