29 weeks and already producing colostrum....?

I am only 29 weeks but my breasts have already started leaking colostrum. Other mothers I have mentioned this to seem surprised that I am already at this stage. Could this indicate that I will deliver sooner than expected? This is my first pregnancy.

  1. I started leaking colostrum, just a small amount, around 30 weeks. It's not an indication of when you will deliver. I gave birth at 40 weeks 5 days.
  2. it is normal to begin leaking colostrum in your third trimester...it does not mean that your baby will come early...good luck to you!!!
  3. No, you shouldn't deliver early. I also leaked colostrum very early. I still have alittle white milk leakage. I breastfed my twins for the first 3 weeks of their life(they were in NICU, and it was soo hard to do that)...They are almost 18months old now... Don't worry and GOOD LUCK
  4. every pregnancy is different and it just seems that your breasts are going to be a really good food source for your baby, use breastfeeding pads to keep them from leaking through your clothes. you're normal and it doesn't indicate how soon you will deliver. if you are really concerned about it, you can ask your dr and he'll be able to reassure you.
  5. I have had 3 pregnancies and I was around 29-30 weeks when I started too leak colostrum. Not sure if that has anything to do with delevry date but my first was induced 4 weeks early my second was also 4 weeks early my third was born 2 days before due date. good luck and congrats on baby
  6. This happened the exact same way with me. I was actually around 25 weeks. It was also my first and I delivered exactly 1 week early to the day. It is perfectly normal and every person is different and each pregnancy is different. I wish you luck!!
  7. I'm 36wks and have been leaking for about 10-12wks. No indication that labor is iminate. Don't worry. Just keep your nipples clean. Wear the nice little pads in your bra so you don't get it all over your different shirts.
