Like the immune system for the physical body , what , do you think, is the immune system for the mind?

The creator, in his infinite wisdom , has provided excellent Immune system to the body, to defend against invading virus, bacteria and the like. Surely, He would have created similar , if not better, immune system for the Mind also. what could be the invading systems for the mind and what could be the immune system? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AkiqHa2DwUHkccSSWKrlODHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20061003021915AAY1OIi KIZIAH : thank you coyoteman: 'so called society', yes. the feet walking on earth with the head soaring in space' words are hard to find, how did you find them? :) Frontal Lobe : yes I read your question but didnt answer, I still wait to see what the answers will be:). 1. Rationality, or for severe trauma denial.
  2. sleep- rest for the mind to regain and repair all rational and logical faculties exhausted during the day
  3. acually the creator is folk lore.well lets not get into that.apparently they the media and these motly crew guys runnin things think that tv and plublicity drilled into our heads is the cure for our thoughts.but the virus is comming.and it seems to be sooner than later
  4. I've always believed "Garbage in--garbage out". You can improve the quality of your mind by not reading and watching crap and pornography. Instead, find a good reading list and stick to it. Also, avoid drugs and alcohol which are known to alter brain chemistry and even kill brain cells. In this day and age, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste". Cliche, I know, but so apt.
  5. The hills, mountains and plains will bring the mind home, the animals seek to enliven, the feet walking on earth with the head soaring in space, this is the cure for the virus that is religion and so called society. : ) EDIT: Here you go. : ) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuLgZ7FlMWYHQ8qCv2dmlEfty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070221191200AAeWNxz
  6. Irrational thought, like religion, would be the invading bodies of the mind and your immune system is reason and logic.
  7. reason, logic, common sense, and stubborness, it prevents u from believing in bad stuff while letting the good stuff in.
  8. I think the ever-menacing threat to the mind is delusion. Antibodies to that are idea exchange with others - constantly, fluidly, every day. Also, the emotional system is subject to attack - of denials, delusions, psychosis - and the antibodies for THAT are emotional connection to other people, again, every day, hopepfully including love with at least some.
  9. "The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven." (John Milton) And.. "He who lives happiest has forgotten most" (Rober Anton Wilson) Visit here: http://www.paradise-engineering.com/quotation/
  10. Does the mind need an immune system? I have previously asked if mind could possibly self-destruct. One of the answerers said it can not truly, eternally be destroyed which I tend to agree. In my spiritual belief, if an evil spirit is casted out what does this really mean? Will the evil spirit be killed or destroyed? Or will it simply be stripped of its free will so that the mind which contains evil thoughts is in floating status and in control of the positive energy? I believe before an evil spirit, it used to be a life form, most likely human. And somehow, due to its convoluted evil exposures transformed this disembodied human being into evil spirit with essentially all the evil thoughts in the mind. Your question inspires me to ask more questions than seeks the answer to it. What if the mind, at the height of pure distorted views that it finally create a stalemate which prevents the positive energy of performing its instinctive tasks such as creation/manifestation? What if the mind is filled with thoughts against the positive nature of creation? Is this what the Bible described Satan being thrown in the depth of the dark abyss? Is this the moment Satan with extreme distorted views of creation/manifestation makes him powerless as this goes against the will of cosmic consciousness or spirit? Now I foresee myself busy this coming days thinking of the answer to that question. Thanks brother.
  11. The invading system of the mind is environmentally conditioned beliefs that control one's perception, thoughts, feelings and reactions. The ONLY immune system is enlightenment, i.e. transcending (deleting) the conditioned ego identity and 'rebooting' the original system - authentic being and purpose.
  12. HOPE
  13. The immune system for the mind is to be awake. We are constantly shrouding ourselves in non-essentials. All negativity is delusional. It is our mind making a mess of the beauty of life. People think their thoughts are real, but the only reality is that they have thoughts in the first place. The truth of those thoughts are always in question. Whenever we can cleanse the mind of thoughts, we can see clearly. We see what is before us, in us, around us, and that is a beauty that is almost blinding.
  14. lots of weed.....
  15. NBM is right from a psychological perspective. From religious perspective, God created the earth with knowledge that we can tap into at any time as the prodigal son returns. When God's son realizes he is lost in illusion(slopping the pigs), he only needs to ask and the truth is there all along. If it weren't, if God held anything but a pure concept of who we are, the universe would not be. the process is found in the Gospel of Thomas: Jesus said: He who seeks, let him not cease seeking until he finds; and when he finds he will be troubled, and if he is troubled, he will be amazed, and he will reign over the All. Unraveling the ego can be troubling, but results in our true, childlike self and awe. Stinking thinking is all that keeps us from knowing our divinity.
  16. I am feeling that it would be the heart..... the mind by itself is a dangerous illusory place default conditioning's are the invaders that create sorrow, struggle...... but in conjunction with the grace and allowance of the open & unconditional heart, it is a place of beauty and serenity, wise and all seeing...... namaste
  17. Our prime defense for the mind is Love! If we approach all with real Love & embrace it then hate, greed, envy, delusion, fear, etc. will find no place to grow. Blessings!
  18. Wow, I think it's all been said already... but I'll list what I consider highlights of the "immune system for the mind" - Good "nutrition".... reading/watching only things that uplift and strengthen the mind, in healthy ways. - Love... "Mental parasites" (or thoughts that suppress our awareness of True Identity) inhibit the feeling of love. So if we feel down in the dumps, angry, etc, we know that we have some inner cleansing to do. - Meditation.... is like the periodic fast... cleanses the mental "liver" from all the toxins it collects... allows them to be released. - Prayer.... Prayer is Living Water. If we do all the above, but still neglect to invite Divine love and power into our lives, it's like eating all the right foods (fruit, veges, etc) but still being borderline dehydrated. EDIT: Oh yeah, can't forget the effect that nutrition and chemicals can have on the functioning of our brains.
  19. invading systems - if i understand the meaning correctly, would in my opinion be such things as lack of morality, lack of self control, the desire to inflict pain on others whether it be mental or physical, addiction, greed, fear, depression, strife, etc. immunity systems - self control, intuition, solid morals, respect for both the self and others, hope, dignity, pride to a humble extent, clear thoughts, dedication, the desire to do good, believe in a higher being, fear, self worth, etc.
  20. hmmmmmm, i would suggest perhaps consciousness, since consciousness is an operation rather than a definite place, a repository operating by manifesting analogies creating the analog, ( i ) to discern operation of intention, our consciousness moves about our mind through metaphors and may summarize what our mind may process by narratization to assimilate previous experience, mind time is created from stimulus of ones brain and consciousness governs this process to make compatible all principles of spatialization, ones mind is a byproduct of our brains and with any reactivity of this profound metaphorical space of mind my guess is that consciousness may superimpose echoes of deductions paralleling the behavior aspect of being and intention of operation within thought, so therefore consciousness creates the inner logos or mental archetype to soothe the mind from awkward patterns of perceptions <>
  21. i see Samskaras as the invading system, shutting down the immune system and relentlessly entrenching habits and patterns. The immune system is silence, sitting in silence, meeting one's true nature after recognizing the tyrranical nature of false ego. When thoughts are recognized for what they are...galloping ghosts that prance with self-importance, stampeding the senses and running from one extreme to the other, before evaporating...then, and only then will an awareness begin to set in and awakening (healing/wholing) take hold. In this system of invasion, one soon realizes the falsity of these clanging, changing, imperative conditionings and comes to know that one is not these thoughts, that in fact they are unreal. What is left? The immune system (silence) begins to kick in and kick out that which is impermanent, making room for the Light to shine in Its fullness as All That Is, forever and abiding, aligning one consciously with one's Source in perfect and sacred union. That which is not (the ego) disappears, and only the Truth of one's Being is experienced. The mind is revealed as an impostor posturing before the false ego and holding its attention whereby the ego "attends" to the noiseful performance and its unremitting cacophany. Reintegrated back into the Whole, one opens as a willing vessel for the dynamic expression of the One. Now one is immune to the illusion of ego-self; silence has silenced and destroyed the Samskaric invaders. All that is left is the Absolute Field of Reality...Love and Light moving through one as One. Mindfulness has conquered mindlessness. So Be It... i am Sirius
  22. Mind itself is a disease that has limited you. You need to overcome the mind.
  23. The invading systems are any set of beliefs that cannot be questioned or tested - any religion or fixed ideology for instance. The immune system is also hydra-headed ---- the capacity to live with uncertainty, the curiosity to question, the awareness to observe, and the intelligence for critical skepticism. God had nothing to do with any of them. Perhaps if he had, we'd be better at it? But remember, he forbade Adam and Eve to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Not a good start, and an even worse end.
  24. Human nature has over its centuries of evolution, cultivated a unique defense mechanism for the mind as well. Mental frailty is the result of excess emotional energy being supplied to the mental body than what it can handle safely, or process in day-to-day life. Unprocessed emotional energy can also cause mental fatigue, sort of mental overload. Sleep is the best rejuvenation, just as meditation is the best training ground for the tool called our mind. Joyous pass-times give it, time to align itself to higher energy, be it sports or meditative experiences. We evolve, and hence we survive and thus manage to pass on our survival mechanism to the next generation, so that they thrive and evolve further. True evolution is the evolution of the spirit within. Mind is something we are still learning to master, and yet there is little focus given to mental training at an early stages of life. By that I mean, allowing us to learn proper ways to control the mind, so that we learn to use it, and not get end up being used by our mental platitudes. This section is perfect example, where some people get so carried away by the knowledge, that they loose the grounding of wisdom. Staying grounded is a tool, just as humility and gratitude are, and best antidote to mental ailments, love and best cure - a prayer, of stillness.
  25. Don't you think mind itself is a disease?
