immune system?
How can I boost my immune system without taking tablets? I prefer to do it with diet but Im not sure what foods that would entail. I seem to suffer colds very quickly when exposed.

- 70% of your immune system is in your digestive system (gastro intestinal tract). I suggest you start here. Pro and Prebiotics (not in the yogurt form they are not strong enough), try a good health food store and explain your concerns. In France everytime a doctor prescribes antibiotics he also gives pro + prebiotics (these get wiped out with antibiotics) Also incorporate zinc into your diet and plenty of vit c plus echinacea. If you take zinc in a supplement form it must contain copper. Also check that your diet includes other vitamins and minerals to aid the absorption of the extra vits you need hope this helps x
- If you ask this question to ten people, you will probably get ten different answers. The bottom line is....although researchers have been studying it for years, they have not come up with a cure or preventative for a common cold. Common sense is the important thing. Eat balanced meals with vegtables meats and fruits daily. Get decent sleep and moderate daily exercise. If you think your body is lacking a certain vitamin or mineral then you need to have lab work done to check your blood. I wish you well.
- The best way to boost the immune system is to practice healthy eating and living habits. As simple as this may sound, that is what it takes to get your immune system back in shape. To start with, watch your acid/alkali balance. You can add lemons or apple cider vinegar to your diet (use to make salad dressings or drink a little in water). You want to keep your pH on the alkaline side because many viruses, bacteria and cancers love acid. On the subject of water, drinks lots of it! Limit your intake of coffee and caffeine laden beverages because these are dehydrating. If you can drink water filtered with carbon to remove the chlorine that is even better! Make sure you get plenty of sleep each night. 5 to 6 hours isn't going to cut it. Your body needs sleep to repair the days damage and to recover from the days stresses. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep to promote the immune system as well as proper hormone levels. Make sure you eat plenty of protein (lo fat please!) Diets low in protein tend to be high in carbs which lead to glucose spikes which in turn will damage to pancreas and the immune system! On the subject of carbs, avoid refined white sugar at all costs. This stuff is just toxic. On the subject of foods, eat plenty of dark colored foods. These are rich in antioxidants (I am including a link on antioxidants) which are important for immune health. Generally, the more deeply colored the food, the more antioxidents. So eat those blueberries, kale, broccoli and carrots! Lastly, get some exercise! It will help you sleep, release some endorphins to make you feel better, and all of those things are great for the immune system. Now, that didn't include one single pill did it!
- Sugar is what weakens your immune system, try to cut out bread products and other sugars as much as you can. Incorporate vegtables instead of bread for carbs into your daily diet. I was the same way, I would get sick all the time it was so annoying.
