What are some ways to keep your immune system healthy?
I don't know much about the immune system, and I would like to know some cool facts about it and ways to keep it healthy. Thanks! Thanks guys! The tips I got were great, and now I know some great ways to keep my immune system healthy. Also, if you know any diseases that affect the IS besides AIDS and autoimmune disease, I would love to know that too. Thanks again!

- Boost your immune system by taking a multi-vitamin and eating lots of fruit and vegetables. Also wash your hands frequently to avoid picking up germs, and avoid people with colds and flu.
- exercise, eat right, take vitamins and don't stress, stress has shown to diminish your immune system resources. oh! and get sufficient sleep.
- Many vitamins and minerals can help strengthen your immune system. Like muscles though, using it makes it stronger. You can gain new immunities by being exposed to new germs (this is how vaccines work, basically). Spending time with little kids (who tend to carry lots of germs and like to share them) can help your immune system become stronger. Working/playing with animals can also help. Drinking non-pasturized milk could help in the same way, but I wouldn't recommend it because it is also likely to give you a germ load that your body can't handle right away and could make you sick.
- 1.) Take multivitamins especially vitamin C. 2.) Get lots of sleep. 3.) Excercise regularly but not excessively, as this can make your immune system more vulnerable for a time after excessive excersice. 4.) Drink fluids.
- Sleep. Proper diet. Moderate exercise. Everyone who has been talking about vitamin supplements does not know what they are talking about.
- Without getting too technical with biology etc I'll give you a straight answer. A healthy immune system is [as you know] directly associated with what foods you eat. I've had a nasty cold for a little over a week now and I've already been prescribed an antibiotic but I find the main ingredient that helps is fresh fruit that contains a lot of Vitamin C. Doctors have recently discovered VC does nothing for colds but it's more about what it does to your bodies immune system in protecting it from further infection. It may not "Cure" a cold but it certainly helps recovery. On a more basic scale, as a day-to-day immunity booster i've usually had drinks such as V8 juice or tomato juice because it provides my body with plenty of vitamins that assist in stamina, energy, alertness and also good skin. It's almost like having a nice shower in the morning but for the inside of your body. Lots of water, fresh fruit, fresh veggies, beef (for iron) and plenty of milk for calcium. It might sound typical but you can't go wrong with the pyramid table of healthy eating. It's all about the right vitamins in keeping your immune system working at it's fullest potential.
- I take Multi Vitamins every day and I didn't get sick since the first time I started taking them
- Your immune system works like a huge computer. When you are exposed to a germ or virus, your immune system will fight and defeat it and it will store that particular germ or virus in it's memory so when if you're ever exposed to it again, your body will be able to fight if off easily. So my advice is, rather than use anti-bacterial soaps, sprays, and vitamins, just get sick and let your body deal with it. The more you're exposed to, the more you'll be able to fight off.
- An auto immune disease is lupus. And as far as tryin to stay healthy.. research
