Can leaking colostrum be a early sign of pregnancy?

So I have a 5 year old that I breastfed for 7 months and my breast countinued to leak slightly for about a year after but eventually dried up. I just had my period the 20th of last month, so if I am pregnant It would be REALLY early. Is colostrum in fact a sign of early pregnancy? Could you get it that soon? I asked this question last night but I accidently said that I had my period the 20th of feb opps so all I got was take a test duh lol Also my breasts are tender and I do have a slight pulling in my lower abdominal, however according to what i have gathered I would be ovaluating right around now or sometime last week so that may be more likley the cause??

  1. That would be extremely early if you just had your period on the 20th or March. I would wait until your period is late and take a test.
  2. It could be that you are pregnant..but leaking colostrum from the breasts also could be a sign of cancer...I am not trying to scare you, but it is a possibility also. I would do a pregnancy test ASAP and then make an appointment with your primary care provider, just to make sure.
  3. yes it is . Over time, a pregnant woman experiences additional symptoms. Physical signs of pregnancy include a blue tint to cervical and vaginal tissue due to increased blood flow. By four weeks, doctors can already detect a softening of the cervix in pregnant women. By six weeks a pregnant woman's uterus begins to swell. Other signs of pregnancy may include: * "feeling pregnant" * "mask" of pregnancy (brown blotches on the face) * breast swelling * fatigue * food aversions * food cravings * increased salivation * increased urination * leaking colostrum (a milky fluid) from breasts * leg and ankle swelling, usually late in the pregnancy * linea nigra , a dark line that extends down from the navel in some pregnant women * red palms. 4. Shocking to some - colostrum, or leaking of breasts is NOT just a sign of pregnancy. It can be a sign of other conditions as well, that could very well require medical attention. Ironically enough, I used to leak a colostrum like substance during PMS on occasion. I also leaked a colostrum like substance when it was discovered that I had a tumor in my right breast. I have leaked during pregnancy as well. Best bet would be to take a HPT and then consult with your doctor (process of elimination). Best of luck to you!
  5. Just because you are leaking does not mean you have to be pregnant. It could be due to increased hormones. My cousin had her child and then 3 years later her bestfriend became pregnant and was having complications with her pregnancy. She got very emotional about it and her breasts started leaking. It was just because of her hormones because of her friends pregnancy. As far as the tenderness and pulling that could be a sign of you ovulating but if you feel its more tender than normal then I would take a test. My breasts always get tender around ovulation but one day they were so sore I could not even touch them...I knew I was pregnant then.
  6. I agree with you, you are way too early for that to occur. Wait to test until you're late.
