When should breastmilk start coming in during pregnancy??
Well... here's to another weird quesiton... when does breastmilk start coming in? And for anyone who knows... would it come in earlier if you were carrying twins?? I know it's not actual breastmilk as well it's colostrum... but you know what i mean right :) Well if anyone has had a set of twins and a seperate single pregnancy then did you notice your breastmilk/colostrum came in earlier than with a single pregnancy??

- Usually just after the child is born.
- apparently colostrum starts around the 30 week mark, but i know people who have experienced at like 24 weeks. not sure about twins though.
- I always thought it didn't actually come in until after you give birth. Good questions for your next doctors visit.
- it depends mine came in at 26 weeks pregnant
- Sometimes it will come in just before you give birth and other times it will come in right after birth or a few days after birth. Whem my sister gave birth to my niece her milk didn't come in until a week later. It's just different for everyone and no it doesn't come in sooner just because you are pregnant with twins...that doesnt have any impact on it.
- 3 or 4 days after birth, the release of afterbirth triggers milk supply or so Iv been told
- omg r u having twins if so congrats that must b so exciting but milk still comes n at the same time it comes n the very end
- WELL MINES CAME EARLY THIS TIME WHEN I WAS ABOUT 5MONTHS AND ITS A SINGLE PREGNANY.BUT WITH MY 1ST CHILD IT DIDNT COME TILL LIKE 2WEEKS AFTER I HAD HER
- yes it can come in early ..you have double the hormones going on usually it comes in day 3 after delivery
- you will get colostrum anytime during pregnancy, its the clear sticky stuff. I can only speak for myself but i got my colostrum at 19 weeks. IT was annoying to say the least because i would wake up soaked everynite, until i invested in breastpads which still didnt work that well. anyway every womans milk will come in a few days to a week after the birth of the baby. In the mean time you breast feed your baby the colostrum thats all they need for the first couple days anyway.
- It all depends on your body as to whether the colostrum comes in early or prior to birth. With my first pregancy, it was well before birth and it looks like it will be the same with this one as when my doc did my breast exam at 8 weeks, he could already feel the lumps from milk production well forming and said mine would be coming in early.
- It does not have to come while you're still pregnant. not at all. it does happen for some ladies, but certainly not all. mine came in the day after my son was born. but if you start beastfeeding right after birth, there will be colostrum. I've never heard of it being different for twins..but if you're breastfeeding 2 babies, your body will know to make more then. it's a supply on demand kinda thing.. hope this helped..lol :)
- Around the 8 month mark Good thing you get milk from your body! With milk prices skyrocketing, you would have been paying out the nipple!
- With my first daughter i didnt get colostrum til around 34 weeks, This pregnancy i had colostrum at 22 weeks. And Breast milk doesnt usually come in til a couple of days after baby is born, but i guess every person is different.
- the colostrum should start coming in at about 6 or 7 months. i dont think that twins would make it come in earlier;--because, hormonal levels are basically the same. good luck. congratulations.
- I'm sorry I can't help with the twin thing, but my breasts started to leak around 24 weeks!
- Well right now I'm 21 weeks with one baby and I have colostrum but only in my left breast and two of my cousins had twins and one had the milk at around 7 months and the other didint have any milk until her babies were born. I guess everyones differant. Maybe it depends on how many pregnancies you've had.
