What exactly is colostrum? And in what point in pregnancy do you begin having it?

I am only 4 1/2 months pregnant and ive been noticing some clear liquid on my nipples.. Is this normal??? I don't leak alot of it, i just see tiny clear liquid spots, but their not very noticeable to the point where it wets my bra.. Just tiny spots.

  1. If ur 4 1/2 months ur about 18 wks I assume..which is normal. at 19/20 wks I started getn it. I'm now 36w4d along and its increased :o) So yep its normal.
  2. colostrum is the clear stuff that comes before breast milk... its very important for the newborn to consume because it rich in antibodies and nutrition for the baby... it should start around the 6th month or so but could start earlier everyeone is different
  3. Yes it is.
  4. i started leaking from my boobs at 26 weeks its all normal my midwife told me the earlier u start leaking the better ur milk supply will b when the baby comes
  5. VERY NORMAL! You might be a little early, but everyone is different. It is the clear "pre" breast milk. After you deliver, this is what you will feed your baby until your true milk comes in. It is loaded with antibodies and immunities for your baby. Your milk ducts are just starting to get ready and making sure everything is working correctly. Good luck
  6. It is "Pre milk". It has most of the best antibodies that your new baby will need when they are first born. your baby will drink that until your milk comes in usually by the 2 or 3rd day after they are born.. It is absolutely normal to starting leaking a little now.. I started leaking really early!
  7. Colostrum is the name given to the pre-milk for feeding the baby. It is high in anti-bodies and stuff. Talk to your ante-natal carers.
  8. believe it or not i just started leakin for the first time like 5 mins ago. from what i hear its like "pre-milk". its wat the baby first drinks when you breastfeed him, its like packed with all kinds of good stuff.
